I had the pleasure of meeting Tara and her beautiful daughter about a year and a half ago when they were clients of mine for a mini session in Surrey, B.C. Fast forward a year and a half and she is now running an awesome blog called bcmom.ca. This is the go to blog for any family that struggles to think of “what to do today”, would love a one stop shop for the down low on awesome events and activities for the entire family and/or is on a budget and would love to save some moula (she definitely has the low down on any giveaways, specials and freebies!!). You can find her blog and all it’s awesomeness here: http://bcmom.ca/
So, without further adieu here is my interview with the wonderful Tara of bcmom.ca.
– For those who don’t know who are you and what do you do?
I’m Tara, a full time working mom to a crazy 3 year old with a love of life on the cheap. I am an office coordinator at a busy wellness centre in surrey and I blog about life, parenting and staying within a budget in British Columbia.
– When did you first get the idea for this blog and how did you know you wanted to bring it fruition?
I previously ran a successful coupon/money-saving blog and decided that I need to incorporate more of my life into it. British Columbia mom was born! I was shocked at how expensive it is to keep a kid entertained with play places, outings and lessons and wanted to find a way to help parents save to be able to afford those outings. Or, at the very least to cut their own expenses down a bit to have the extra wiggle room to go where they want with their kids.
– When did you first start your blog?
Approximately 2 months ago.
– Tell us about your blog, what do you write about, who is this blog for, what will people gain by reading it?
My blog is called British Columbia Mom, I primarily write about my life, money saving and ways to entertain kids on a budget. My blog is for anyone really, deal finders, parents on a budget and those looking to just stretch their budget a bit further. What can they gain? Hopefully inspiration to join me in a frugal lifestyle.
– What makes your blog special and different then others?
I’m new to the blogging scene, so I don’t think my blog is really “special”. I promise entertaining content and lots of cheapie deal finding goodness.
– How often should people be checking back to the blog for the cool stuff you post about?
We usually try to post at least 4-5 times a week, Sunday’s are our family day so it is rare you will find a NEW post that day, but there is always ideas available in the archives.
– Is there anything else you want the readers to know about you and/or your blog?
British Columbia Mom is the labour of love of 3 women, not just me. 🙂 My 2 contributors Helisa & Danielle are amazing and a huge inspiration when it comes to what we feature. We love helping out new businesses, we have worked with a few great local companies already and attend events as blog ambassadors. We’re PR friendly and are always looking for new ideas on what our readers would like featured. We’d love to hear from you!
Thanks Tara for an awesome interview, I know families are going to gain so much from your blog and just love it!
If there is anything you would like to see me or Tara feature on our blog’s we are always open to requests! Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing the next few interviews with you all!
